Able is a transmasculine genderfluid human and a certified life coach. He is a trained peer counselor and certified mental health group facilitator.  He previously worked in the county system as a counselor for 5 years. He also facilitated the Wellness Recovery Action Plan training (WRAP) for the County of Santa Clara, and the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) training for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). In addition he has been a mental health educator in high schools as part of the NAMI Ending the Silence program providing information on what mental illness is, how to recognize it in yourself and others, and how to seek help and resources.  He is responsible for founding the first and only LGBT mental health support group in the county of Santa Clara mental health system, and has led several trainings on how to work with and treat LGBT clients.  This group has since been duplicated in various departments of the County of Santa Clara. Able has completed several therapy trainings including motivational interviewing, anxiety management, active listening, and group therapy techniques.  He actively mentors youth in life skills and self-regulation. He also holds a BA in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz.
